“Just take the first step and see what happens.”

“Just start typing and let the words flow.”

“Just put pencil to paper and start drawing.”

This is useful advice, but I prefer:

What are you seeing?

What are you doing?

What are you saying?

Are your observations informing the actions you are taking, which in turn are being amplified by the words you are using?

In other words, are you being intentional about your observations, actions, and words?

If not, then it’s time to start.

This is the thing about starting a journey, beginning a new project, or embarking on a new adventure: you have to be intentional.

You have to know where you are going and why, and then take the necessary steps to get there.
