I recently rediscovered the poem Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda, in Falling Up, by Shel Silverstein:
“All the Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas
Layin’ in the sun,
Talkin’ bout the things
They woulda-coulda-shoulda done…
But those Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas
All ran away and hid
From one little did.”
What separates those who do from those who do not?
I can take a few guesses.
It could be a vision, goal, or a purpose. Or perhaps motivation, the fulfillment of lifelong desire, or even service to others. Maybe it’s a particular passion that drives people to take action or the drive to achieve. Competition motivates some people. Or maybe it’s just sheer willpower.
Regardless of what drives you, the important thing is that you have taken that first step.
For me, I want to make a difference.
