The thing about getting to next is that what’s next already exists. The challenge is finding it.
However, people can get in the way of themselves when trying to sort out where to go and how to get there.
Leaders or managers may not be clear on who is making the decisions or the what exactly needs to be done. There is no understanding of the context in which they are working. People fail to communicate clearly the who, what, where, when, and why of their initiatives, and forget about managing and mitigating risk along their path of discovery.
Finding a future state is easier when you are clear on where you want to go and if you are open to ideas from outside your usual frame of reference or perspective.
Broadening your perspective enables you to see all aspects of a system and informs your place place and role in it.
