The choices you make define your actions. In your business or personal life, what you choose to do is just as important as what you choose not to do because it affects the steps that you will take to achieve a goal or to create a new reality.
This question is often the starting point for me to help someone figure out what’s next. In developing an understanding of the previous steps they took to reach a certain point, I am better able to see what they did and most importantly the contextual factors that were driving their decisions.
Why did you pick these specific words to define your company vision and mission instead of these similar words?
Why do you provide this service and not that one?
Why have you chosen to work in this market?
Why don’t you want to work in this adjacent market?
Did you have to reach out and find work or did it come to you?
Did you start small selling one service or did you cast a wide net?
The choices that we make in pursuing a goal are important because they help us structure our actions. When you can see the structure that you’ve created in support of a particular effort, it’s easier to make adjustments to that system for the future.
