Roadblocks.

Stagnation.

Hitting the wall.

Writer’s block.

Out of ideas.

Creative dry spell.

Whatever you want to call it, feeling drained and with nothing else to offer can feel like an impossible hole to dig out of.

My secret to maintaining a constant flow of ideas and avoiding the plateau is: learning to anticipate periods of low energy, having other activities you can turn to that help keep you in a state of feeling good (exercise, cooking, reading, etc.), and, perhaps most importantly, appreciating the downtime.
