It’s common this time of year to assess what you’ve done and where you’d like to be going. Looking back you may see things that you did well, decisions that you might not be happy about, or opportunities to build for the future.
Depending on where you’ve been, the future may be unknown or vague. There are people that just don’t worry about it and make it up as they go along. Others are making calculated steps to build something that people have never seen. The possibilities are endless when you put together a plan and take action.
For all of the talk about the past and future, people get uncomfortable when you ask them what they are doing.
What are you doing on a moment-to-moment, or day-to-day basis to achieve your goals?
If you don’t have a direct response to that question, then you will find yourself spinning in place with a mind full of big ideas, but nowhere to go.
Interesting things start to happen when you consciously work to consider the actions that you take to build the future you want. Although you may not notice it at first, the world as you know it will start to bend towards you, enabling future action. You certainly have choices to make about which possibilities to develop, but things people and things will appear to align with you if they want to help you get where you need to go.
Living creatively starts with working to take advantage of these chances that emerge and working to craft them into some kind of value to yourself or others. Successful teams are thinking creatively as a normal way of doing business in order to generate new sources of value and more options.
