Plato’s Allegory of the Cave serves as a reminder that our core beliefs can be chains that bind us and prevent us from seeing what is actually real – unless we are willing to put aside those beliefs and embark on a journey of exploration.
Many individuals and organizations aren’t aware of the chains that hold them back. Awareness comes when they start to try new things, change their habits, or try to expand their business, for instance.
Climbing out of the cave can be liberating, but is not for the faint of heart as you come face to face with possibly changing your belief systems. This is why changing one’s habits or working to expand one’s business can be so challenging. You really have to be clear with who you are and where you want to go and be open to new possibilities for the change to stick.
