Flexibility is my forte.
You can drop me into any situation–offices, workplaces, different countries, etc.–and I’ll figure out how to work within it and thrive.
My role? I usually assist whoever is in charge in elevating their leadership or even crafting a fresh strategy by implementing systemic improvements. When you lead with context, anyone in an organization can have an impact.
When I join a new group or start working with a client:
I watch what’s happening. The behavior, actions, and words of those around me become pieces of information that shape my mental model of the scenario.
I look for inconsistency in the group. If actions don’t synch with words or there’s resistance to beneficial change, I can sense it. Spotting and addressing negativity is part of my talent.
When issues arise, I tactfully intervene and propose subtle modifications to get things back on track.
Leadership isn’t a one-time task – it requires constant tuning and adaptation.
My formal process looks like this:
- Observe – Identify common behaviors and the influencing factors.
- Catalyze – Take decisive actions. Not just any actions, but those that cultivate relationships, alleviate conflicts, and spark progress.
- Amplify – Communicate the plan in a way that mobilizes the team, cultivates respect, and garners support. Be intentional with your words.
And then repeat. Over and over until what you are building is a smooth-running operation.
All it takes is being open to a fluid, flexible approach.
When you get dialed into the context and environment where you are working, challenges become opportunities, and you can create a space for your organization to grow.
